Winter Weather

Posted on 03.8.19 |

With the winter weather comes snow. This weekend there is a possible storm heading our way. Always remember to use these tips for shoveling snow to maintain a health spine. 1.) Dress warm, but don’t bundle up so much so that it makes it difficult for you to move naturally. 2.) Use a lightweight pusher-type shovel, spray Teflon on the shovel so that snow will not cling to it. 3.) Try not to lift the snow or pitch it, instead push snow into a pile. 4.) Avoid sudden twist. Move your entire body and turn with your legs. 5.) If you must lift, then lift with your legs rather than your back. Bend your knees and keep your back straight. 6.) Work slowly. 7.) If you feel tired or short of breath, STOP, REST. 8.) If you feel any pain in your neck, back or other area of the body STOP completely. If your pain persist call your doctor immediately or call our office to schedule an appointment. Stay safe and warm this weekend and always remember no one should have to live with pain needlessly.
